Sumatran Tiger Photography Package at Tiger Sanctuary
Tiger Sanctuary, located in Aek Godang, North Sumatra, is dedicated to the preservation of the Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) and other endangered wildlife. This sanctuary provides a unique and safe experience for photographers and visitors wishing to observe and photograph Sumatran tigers in an ethical way.
About Tiger Sanctuary
The sanctuary was established for the rehabilitation and conservation of Sumatran tigers that are injured, orphaned, or relocated from areas of human-wildlife conflict. The facility is designed to prepare these animals for release back into the wild. In addition, Barumun Nagari runs educational programs for local communities and collaborates with national and international conservation organizations.
Photography Experience at the Sanctuary
The sanctuary is popular with wildlife photographers who want to capture Sumatran tigers. Barumun Nagari offers a 3-day, 2-night special photography package that includes supporting facilities for an immersive tiger photography experience. Here are some important guidelines:
- Using Telephoto Lenses Photographers are advised to use telephoto lenses to capture images from a safe distance, enhancing safety for both photographers and the animals’ comfort.
- Respecting Wildlife Photography Ethics. Flash and loud noises that may disturb the animals are not allowed. Sanctuary guides accompany visitors to ensure safety and comfort for both the tigers and photographers.
- Observing Tiger Rehabilitation in addition to photography, visitors can observe the sanctuary team’s efforts to rehabilitate the tigers, providing an educational experience and an understanding of the importance of conservation.
- Best Time for Photography in the Morning (6:00 – 10:00) and evening (16:00 – 19:00) are the best times, as the tigers are more active and the natural lighting is softer, providing optimal photo results.
